  • Etihad Airways has rescheduled flights to and from Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka to ensure better flight connections with Etihad destinations in Western Europe and North America. 
    Etihad airways flight EY253 from Dhaka to Abu Dhabi now departs daily at 05:10 am and 08:55 am, local Dhaka time. Etihad Airways flight EY258 departs from Abu Dhabi to Dhaka at 03:55 am and 09:25 pm, local Abu Dhabi time.

  • ZIA made Shahjalal International Airport-The government yesterday decided to rename the establishments named after late president Ziaur Rahman including the Zia International Airport, which is to be named Hazrat Shahjalal (R) International Airport.

  • Just this week the current administration announced that Zia International Airport will now be called Shahjalal Airport and another airport will be built in the name of Mujibur Rahman.

  • Cabinet decides to rename Zia International Airport : The Bangladesh cabinet has, in principle, agreed to rename the Zia International Airport.
    The cabinet in a meeting presided over by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, agreed to rename the installations the names of which were changed and the renaming of the airport falls in line with that decision, cabinet sources yesterday said, adding that the airport might be named after a Muslim saint.
    Newspaper reports have speculated that it might be renamed as Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.

  • The decisions came at a regular cabinet meeting with Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in the chair at the conference room of the cabinet division of Bangladesh Secretariat. The cabinet also decided in principle to change the name of Zia International Airport and other major establishments, named after former president and BNP founder Ziaur Rahman, said sources. Zia International Airport would be renamed after Hazrat Shah Jalal (RA), the sources added.
